A Quacker of a Day

Birchwood Park’s inaugural ‘Duck Day’ took place on Thursday at The Centre, raising over £2,000 for the CAFT and Macmillan charities.

The event drew in large crowds from businesses across the park and their families as well as the local community. Duck Delights included stalls and games, a big pan serving hot foods, live music from local band Conquer Rio, a family film showing in the auditorium and the highly anticipated Duck Dash.

The day went swimmingly for 5-year-old Hari Bharath who took home the coveted Duck Dash crown, beating off tough competition. Hari is the son of Rina Bharath of Mini Me Marketing & PR Consultancy based in Lovell House.

It was also a pro-‘duck’-tive afternoon for Leah and Matt from The Centre’s catering team as their creative ‘Tim Beak’ effort topped the bill in the Best Dressed Duck competition. Rob Mayer of Areva’s ‘Engineered Duck’ also finished high in the pecking order coming in second place, while the Birchwood Park Building Manager’s team ‘Minion’ duck was by no means an ugly third.

Speaking on the day, Martin O’Rourke, commercial director at Birchwood Park, said: “Today is an excellent example of the community spirit that runs through everything we do at Birchwood Park. A huge thank you to everyone that took part in activities across the day and to those who gave their time to make it possible.

“Employees should expect more from their workplace and we continue to seek new and enjoyable ways to ensure everyone at Birchwood Park feels part of our thriving business community.”
