It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week and Birchwood Park have invited ‘I AM Celebrating Autism in Greater Manchester’ to pop into the EngineRooms, lunchtime, Thursday 17th.
Come and learn about this GM charity – with a primary aim of building friendship and belonging for autistic children (aged 10+) and adults, people who too often find themselves socially isolated which can have terrible and costly long-term outcomes. I AM is a membership-based organisation, provides long term 1-2-1 support and group activities in- and out-of-centre trips. Started by parents in 1968, I AM has long experience delivering lifeline support.
To help strengthen neuro-inclusion across GM, I AM also provides workplace needs assessments, workshops and training for organisations – this achieves two goals:
- to build competence and confidence for people in organisations to embrace neuro-divergence;
- all surplus contributes to the programme provided to members.
