The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC) is now settled at its new home at Birchwood Park in Warrington, signifying a huge milestone in the Park’s expanding nuclear hub.
The Nuclear AMRC is hosted by member company Jacobs at one of the UK’s biggest nuclear industry clusters. Jacobs is a leading nuclear energy, offering expertise in reactor technology, conceptual design and engineering relating to new nuclear technologies.
The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre is led by industry experts to help UK companies secure work across the nuclear sector – in new build, operations and decommissioning.
Previously based in Birkenhead, the Nuclear AMRC modules group is adapting techniques used in shipbuilding, aerospace and other sectors for use across the nuclear sector. Its facilities include the new Nuclear AMRC Midlands in Derby and the new modular manufacturing R&D centre here at the Park.
As members of the AMRC, Jacobs is providing engineering testing, workshop and office space at the facility on Bridgewater Place. Jacobs joined the Nuclear AMRC as a tier-one member in August 2021 to help drive innovation in advanced nuclear technologies.
One of the most important places in the UK for the nuclear industry, the Park has a number of high-profile occupiers in the nuclear sectors, including Jacobs, Rolls-Royce, National Nuclear Laboratory, Cavendish Nuclear, Atkins, Orano, Ammentum and Nuvia, as well as a wide range of innovative SMEs.

Ideally located in the North West, with a catchment area taking in Manchester and Liverpool, the Park hopes that its nuclear-focused occupiers will be given easy access to get closer to their clients, as well as attracting the next generation of talent to keep Warrington’s unique nuclear hub growing year on year.
