Miller Homes North West highlights career opportunities for women in construction

News 06 March 2026

To mark Women in Construction Week (1st – 7th March), Miller Homes North West is shining a spotlight on Marketing Manager Emily Williams, highlighting the diverse career opportunities available to women across the housebuilding sector.

Emily joined the five-star homebuilder earlier this year, bringing with her more than five years’ experience in construction marketing. Her journey into the industry was inspired from an early age, combining a longstanding interest in property with the influence of her mother, who has built a successful 30-year career within construction.

Reflecting on her route into the sector, Emily explains that while her path may not have been entirely conventional, property had always been a natural fit. That early interest has since developed into a career focused on delivering impactful marketing strategies that support the launch and growth of new communities across the North West.

In her current role, no two days are the same. Emily works closely with internal teams and stakeholders across the business, using data and insight to shape development strategies, support sales performance and ensure each site is positioned effectively within its local market.

Emily believes that strong communication, adaptability and the ability to interpret data are key skills for success in construction marketing, particularly in an industry that moves quickly and requires a proactive, solutions-focused mindset

When asked about her experience as a woman in construction, Emily highlights the positive and supportive environments she has worked in, crediting mentors and colleagues for helping shape her development and confidence within the sector

While she recognises that challenges can still exist across the wider industry, she believes attitudes are continuing to shift in a positive direction, with more women stepping into a broad range of roles.

Emily said: “Construction has traditionally been seen as male-dominated, but my experience has been incredibly positive. I’ve worked alongside supportive and inspiring colleagues, including many talented women who are shaping the industry in a meaningful way. There are so many different career paths within construction, from technical and site roles to marketing, sales and customer experience. It’s an exciting, fast-paced industry and I would encourage any young woman considering it to take that first step.”

Clare Noakes, Sales Director for Miller Homes North West, added: “Women in Construction Week provides an important opportunity to recognise the contribution of women across our business and the wider industry. Emily’s appointment reflects the strength of talent we have within the North West team. At Miller Homes, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to build a rewarding career.”

As part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing future talent, Miller Homes also offers a range of early talent career opportunities for those looking to enter the industry, including graduate programmes, apprenticeships and work experience placements. The business actively encourages individuals from all backgrounds to explore a career in construction and be part of shaping the communities of tomorrow.
