Cyber security: an important deadline for the nuclear supply chain

News 23 October 2026

With 46% of UK nuclear work sitting within defence programmes, the Ministry of Defence’s new Defence Cyber Certification (DCC) requirements are an important consideration for businesses across the sector.

The MOD has asked companies in its supply chain to achieve Level 0 of DCC by 31 December 2026. This includes three key areas: Cyber Essentials, UK GDPR compliance, and resilient networks and systems.

Our occupier, labdesk, is helping businesses understand what these requirements mean in practice.

As labdesk Director Mike Douglass highlights, having policies in place is one thing, but ensuring systems and security settings align with the required controls can be where the gaps appear.

As a hub for the nuclear sector and its wider supply chain, Birchwood Park is home to businesses working across this important industry. Sharing knowledge and expertise helps support a more resilient, secure and connected nuclear supply chain.

Thank you to labdesk for sharing this timely insight.
